Cyclone Nargis reflections: Women has 7 kids, and receives IDE support
Ma Mya Oo, in her home. She has 7 kids, and receives IDE support. They own just one acre of land, so her husband also works as a day labourer. They lost 45 chickens in Nargis, and their yield of rice has dropped from 70 'tins' (2450 kg) to 35 tins. They are 40,000 kyats ($40) in debt which they borrowed for home repairs after Nargis. All of their children survived, even though they were washed away from the house in the deluge. One of the girls is still terrified of rain and water in general. She is dreading the coming Monsoon.
