Paradise Pier: Fun in the Sun for Everyone!

    Newer Older

Security at Disneyland was pretty comparable to WDW, although on our night at DCA, we made the mistake of sitting around watching the final World of Color show (we had little choice since the Paradise Pier lights were off and that's where I planned on starting the shoot) which begins when the park closes, so we were disadvantaged by that, and only 10 minutes after we began shooting Paradise Pier, Security began sweeping us.

To combat this, we moved more briskly than them (I swear, no less than 6 were following us through the Pier!) and quickly set up for shots. Consequently, most of the pictures I took had about 10 second set-up times and aren't the most brilliant composition-wise, but I was more concerned with building my catalog of DCA shots, so I was fine with that. We were assisted by a "wrong" turn into Golden State to take the scenic route to the exit. By the time we got to the front, it was pretty clear everyone else was long gone. When we kept taking pictures of the very front (prior to exiting), we were finally "informed" that the park was closed.

Of the relatively "simple" shots I got, this one really stands out to me for some reason. Can't say I've seen this composition before.

Great shot Tom, the colors are awesome. I like how you were able to capture the moon above California Screamin.

Nice one, I too have a shot like this so I suppose it is only fair if you "steal" this one from me. Those reflections really make the shot special.

Stunning! It reminds me of what a bunch of us experienced trying to shoot Tomorrowland. Ok...folks move along. Good fun for sure!

Living on the edge at the CA parks! Love the view you captured here. The reflections are awesome and they are even on the leading line railing.

They seem to be making it harder for you to stay & take pics these least that's my feeling. Maybe too many high end digital cameras? This is awesome Tom.

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)

Hey I just saw this one. Little different angle but just as good. Like the moon in the shot.

Absolutely beautiful! It's so nice to see the lagoon filled in with water too - the last few trips I've taken have been during WoC's construction. I love the glow on Screamin's track too.

I've noticed how the Disneyland Resort is a little more strict about closing times than Disney World. We accidentally ended up taking photos of Small World after park close (had lost track of the time) and they actually turned off the BGM and some of the lights. We took the hint and headed out.
