House Sparrow female

I happened upon an opportunity where this female House Sparrow was perched very close to the path at Rotary Marsh in Kelowna B.C., and decided to try to showcase its beauty in the evening light. Another over-looked species, the House Sparrow is the ubiquitous city bird, and almost in every movie, filmed practically anywhere in the world, you'll here House Sparrows chattering in the bushes nearby. That's how widespread they are. But here's an interesting thing to think about - in its native continent, Europe, the species is declining rapidly for no apparent reason at all, so many the introduction to dozens of other countries did this species well.
