Preston Martyrs memorial sculpture
Preston Martyrs sculpture on Lune Street was unveiled in 1991. It commemorates four people shot down during the workers strike of 1842. Inspired by Francisco Goya’s “The Third of May”—which depicts Spanish civilians being executed for resisting Napoleon’s troops.
The memorial is located off Lune Street in front of the Corn Exchange Building, which also houses the 1842 Restaurant & Bar.
