A Southern Boobook owl, probably looking for a better concealed roosting position.

Beautiful shot. Great to find it out in the open like this.

Excellent capture of such a beautiful owl. I,ve never seen one in the "Brae". Well done!

Wow I've never seen one there either. Can you tell me roughly where? - not that I'm expecting it to be there on my next visit, but it helps keep me up to date as to what is likely where in Callum Brae. Nice catch!

      Thanks all.
Julian, it was in the southwest corner near the Mugga Lane entrance. I will neither confirm nor deny that it was actually inside the quarry fence.

Funny thing about the quarry fence, if you 'look' over the fence you almost always see more interesting birds! That large, consistent and active collection of Duskies, Welcome Swallows, 2 sp of robin and the Shrike-tit that I posted the other day (including the one with the Euro Wasp) were all in the quarry buffer zone. Lucky I had an extraordinarily long lens!
