I'm a birder, amateur entomologist and all-around nature geek who lives in California in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the natural history of the plants and animals of western North America. I hope to use this accumulated knowledge to contribute something back to the science and/or conservation of our local wildlife.

Most of my bird and dragonfly photos are digiscoped using various point-and-shoot digital cameras and a Nikon Fieldscope III 60mm spotting scope. In terms of image processing, my images are organized in Picasa and most of the raw images have been altered with either the Picasa program (older images) or Photoshop Elements software (recent images) - almost all images get an "Auto Contrast". Some images have been modified with "Auto Sharpen" and the "Shadows/Highlights" tool. The goal is usually to reduce glare and correct for the hand/scope shake that causes many of my raw images to be a bit blurry. I don't alter the colors or change the images in other ways.

Please feel free to send me a flickrmail or comment directly on my images.
