The National Ocean Service, an office within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (or NOAA), is leading the way to understand, predict, and respond to challenges such as the impacts of climate change on coastal communities, marine debris, pollution, water quality, erosion, port congestion, and population growth.

We are working to make sure that America's oceans and coasts are safe, healthy, and productive. Our scientists, natural resource managers, and specialists provide tools and services to protect coastal communities, observe our oceans and coasts, ensure safe and efficient marine transportation, reduce ocean and coastal health risks, and conserve coastal and marine places.

The National Ocean Service uses social networking platforms to connect and interact with different audiences. At this time, we share content on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr, and YouTube. Each of these social networking platforms has their own privacy policy. Follow these links to learn more about a specific privacy policy: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr, and YouTube.

- Abusive, vulgar, obscene, racist, threatening, or harassing comments
- Libel, slander, or personal attacks of any kind, including the use of offensive terms that target specific individuals or groups
- Clearly off topic
- Spam, including content that promotes products or services or contains gratuitous links (links or references to other NOAA webpages or federal government sites are acceptable)
- Political campaigning or lobbying
