"Thank you, Gabi, for your foresight and willingness to start USk. It is always a pleasure to see and read what others are experiencing around the world, but even more interesting to see how it is captured first-hand through sketches. I think a lot of people have been inspired to try their hand at it themselves, and experience the fun."

"I've been with Urban Sketchers since the beginning. Paricipating with the other artists here has been such a rich, varied experience. Gabi's efforts have resulted in quite an interlocking of images and points of view.

I love the meanderings and trains of thoughts and the juxtapositions of imagas.

Thanks to everyone who helps hold us together."

"I received a flickr note about 2 years ago from a fellow named Gabi, who suggested that I add my sketches to his urban sketchers flickr site. I was happy to do it, there was interesting work there.
Then about a year ago this same fellow asked if I'd like to join a blog he was setting up for urban sketchers . I'd never spent a minute in the "blogosphere" but was intrigued by his idea and flattered by the offer and thought - why not ?! I was a bit worried however that I might not be able to produce a sketch a month ...
Well one year into the blog and I find it has been a truly inspiring experience. My sketching output, range of subject matter, and the different techinques I've tried have all grown significantly.
Perhaps best of all is the real sense of community created by the flickr site and the blog - it's very positive and encouraging.
But I still haven't made it down to Seattle to meet this fellow Gabi Campanario...."

"Congratulations USk on your 1st anniversay. I came across USk only 2 months ago, from sketchcrawl.com, when I was just starting to draw again. Since then, nearly every day I checkout what has been added to both the website and flickr group, as it is so interesting to see the variety of styles and range of topics that people sketch. More importantly, for me, it has provided inspiration to draw regularly, which is something I haven't done since college. I am drawing so much I cannot thank you enough."

"It is 12am on 1 Nov 2009 here in Singapore that I am writing this. Happy Anniversary USk! I discovered USk in Dec 2008 while I was on vacation surfing the sketch blogs. USk provides a platform to introduce my country to the world. I have been sketching buildings and places for a long time but after joining USk, I began to sketch more people in public places and pay more attention when observing and sketching an activity, a flower, an object, a car and even the menu board in a café. I got the sketching bug from USk and it has been spreading among my friends who are all too happy to be contracted with the bug that we started an USk city blog. Thankyou USk."

I have created many sketches and I simply would not have attempted if I were not an Urban Sketcher. My thanks goes out to Gabi and all the other artists who make this a truly unique blogging experience."

"I first found Urban Sketchers while surfing art blogs and was thrilled to connect up with this inspiring, diverse, and far flung group of artists. Having moved from San Francisco to Iowa last year, I've found this artist community right here on the internet even though I live in the Heartland (as Iowa is called.) I love filling my sketchbook with drawings and it's become my constant companion. I get excited always looking for a visually arresting view that inspires me to draw. Drawing is like breathing to me, I have to do it, and it's a real joy to be taking in big gulps of air along with my fellow artists! And what a visual diary. It captures the moment like nothing else can in a memory. Thank you Gabi, for the inspiration you have engendered - all over the world, literally!"

"I discovered Urban Sketchers last Christmas. Much of the art and groups I had found online had a strong emphasis on Imaginary/Fantasy/Anime drawing. Dont get me wrong, I love that stuff, but until USketchers, I never found a group who liked drawing from life. For me, thats what I love about urban sketchers, its seeing people transform their visual expreince into drawings. This act yeilds amazing and unexpected results. Seeing others work continues to inspire me to keep drawing!"

"I only started sketching for myself last year. I love sketching in the city and looking at urban sketches and I find Urban Sketchers to be one of the most interesting, inspirational and instructive sites around. I'd look in on it pretty much every day. Of course I have my favourite sketchers, but the sheer variety of styles and locations is always stimulating and I do like reading the stories behind the sketches, which give some context and depth. Congratulations on the first year. Looking forward to the next."

"Urban Sketchers is about realising you're not alone. You can fill sketchbook after sketchbook with drawings of the city and feel as if you're the only person in the world doing it; Urban Sketchers proves that you are not, and that you're with friends. Within minutes you can get feedback on your work from someone in Taipei, and then marvel at the work of someone drawing Oslo. How perfect is that?"

    Waterworth Travel Journals says:

"Being a member artist in Urban Sketchers is so great because it has become the reason I sketch more often. The idea that everywhere I go whether it's to Starbucks on a break or over the North Cascade Pass is worthy of a 15 minute sketch. Although I live in a rural area and do most of my sketching locally I travel globally and thoroughly enjoy filling my watercolor journals with cityscapes of foreign cities which is another reason Urban Sketchers is so exciting to log into - I look forward to the new postings from correspondents around the world."
