The City of Thunder Bay Archives preserves, promotes, and makes public the City’s corporate history by managing documents through systematic records management controls and standards established by the Canadian Council of Archives.

Our holdings include the records of the City of Thunder Bay, the former Cities of Fort William and Port Arthur, the former Townships of Shuniah, Neebing, and Crookes, and private donations including the records of the 1981 Jeux Canada Games and the 1995 Nordic World Games.

You can visit the Archives online at or in person at 235 Vickers Street North, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, or call (807) 625-2270. Appointments are not needed. Our website also includes finding aids for all our holdings, and a selection of online exhibits.
