I have been a photographer for a number of years now. My interest in photography covers a wide variety of topics including landscapes, old farms, trucks/cars, weddings, children, local events, macro, animals and birds.

The photo-editing programs I am using are Lightroom 5, Nik Efex software, Photoshop CS4 and Topaz Details. The change to new programs was a good one as I am able to produce high-quality images consistently and in far less time.

I enjoy macro and have come up with a few Macro Rigs with one of those using plumbing pipe of all things as an extension tube....cheap and it works great!

Carl Brenders is an artist that I have followed over the years for his amazing details in the animals he paints. It got to the point that I could spot his artwork in a store a mile away. After computing WHY I like his work so much I came to the conclusion that it was the "details" in the animals that really drew me to his work. HDR photography is a great tool to bring out details in an image and now with Lightroom 5 I am recovering dynamic range that rivals HDR - in my opinion.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of my contacts! I am learning so much from your photostreams, emails and comments on my pictures. - Pat.

I have started a few Flickr Groups specific to Alberta, Canada. They are:
Writing on Stone Provincial Park - www.flickr.com/groups/writingonstone/
Alberta Heritage Project - www.flickr.com/groups/alberta-heritage-project/
Canadian Badlands Images - www.flickr.com/groups/canadian-badlands-images/

I do some editing on my images in Photoshop's LAB Mode. This was something I self-studied for a few years learning how to separate color channels from tone. The process is hard to learn and almost drove me nuts! As a result I started a LAB Flickr Group.
LAB Color Space - www.flickr.com/groups/labcolorspace/
