I want to thank all members of the Flickr community who have given me feedback on my images since I joined Flickr seven years ago. Since that time. I embarked on an amazing journey that took me around the world, visiting 23 countries in one year starting June 15, 2014 in Iceland. My family accompanied me, and of course my camera and tripod was always within arm's reach. During that time I was traveling, I did not post images while on the road, as I was going as light as possible (no laptop). Since my return in May of 2015, I have been busy editing and posting images from the journey. Meanwhile, my best wishes to all of you and my hope for you is that you make extraordinary photographs that you share with the world.

Three major passions in my life quest for self-expression have been writing, martial arts (specifically aikido), and photography. My primary focus is nature and landscape photography, but I also am fascinated with street and travel photography and hope to do more in the future. I'm a former journalist and have been training in the Japanese martial art of aikido since 1989 and teaching it since 1995. I've self-published photo calendars and a collection of images of Brighton Beach & Coney Island, NYC, the place where I spent my boyhood. I've also been published in a collection of images of Central Oregon. I'm also a contributor to Getty Images. I'm inspired by the work of Art Wolfe, Jack Dykinga, Galen Rowell and William Neill, among others. I try to put my images to work for the benefit of conservation groups that work toward preserving the beauty of the natural world or by trying to make the urban world a better place to live. I publish an annual calendar of images of Central Oregon that benefits the Ecology Center of Central Oregon and I have donated use of images to organizations trying to preserve the Tumalo Creek watershed. And I'm always looking for more ways to help.

Some people have asked me about my camera and favorite lenses. I'm currently using a Canon 5DsR. Mostly I'm using a 16-35 mm ultrawide Canon lens, a 24-105 mm Canon telephoto, and a Canon 70-200 mm 2.8/f. I also carry a Canon 100mm-400mm for wildlife with a 1.4X teleconverter. My camera is nearly always on a Gitzo or Really Right Stuff tripod equipped with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead.
