‘comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable’
Finley Peter Dunne
I like people
pigs
bees
whales
and trees
Sometimes in that order
I thought once
I was happiest taking
candid shots
of people
Mary Goldsardine calls that real-life cinematography
I like the phrase
Now I am taking more consented portraits
And that gives me a huge kick
too
Though consider this
"I truly believe some photos can steal souls. Or entire lives. BUT some photos can also steal the soul of the viewer. Yours can do both magic, with the benefit of leaving lives and souls enriched by the experience"
though I agree
Not with the praise
of my talent
only with the
honesty
of my attempt
I'm looking
not for the moment revealed
it's a good illusion
but for the moment
to think
a better one
If forced I'd call myself a sentimentalist for social change
My pictures don't always show that though
I should call myself a socialist because I guess that's what I am. A cross between the williams' Cobbett and Morris with a good dose of the charles' Marx and Darwin thrown in
Plus a fair measure of Einstein and his hero and mine Mozart - who Albert said had written the music which fills the universe
I am struck by the thought that our world is hallmarked by the random kindness of strangers Aaron Sorkin et al
This is a world I am happy to live in
To those whose likeness I borrow
I give you the only thing I have of value
My respect
For the flickr censors:
I am some what past the age of consent
I am not a child
Just child like
And one more thing
I am a working journalist once but no more for the BBC
And these are timid not bold times
So
A disclaimer - everything I photograph
or write about can only ever reflect poorly on me
Not my employers
Never on my subjects
I will try always to tell the truth
And that can land me in trouble
Sx
Perhaps for these reasons I am single

I love Steve's Colours too: they are almost stunning details, precious details of lived life... ... so I think I love all of Steve's ArtWorks: the pure expression of a refined eye. ... Go On, Steve! :)
I love the way Steve gives London the face of humanity. Ordinary people, even the strangest ones! Through his eyes they're all beautiful!
Steve's London is full of fossilized MP's and sly foxes. And his pictures are most please to the eye.
Steve is a wonderful photographer and dear friend. Every time I look at his photos and portraits I truely admire his take on life and all that is around him. I have learnt so much from Steve and the unique way he documents the world and all it's marvels...thankyou...
very slick street photography and candid shots, all my favorites :] now we need to get you a Leica RF :]
Steve is a wonderful photographer, but this is not just for the aesthetic beauty in his photographs. More so than his talent with the camera, Steve manages to capture the spirit of the moment in his scenes, whether it be a seagull in mid flight or a lone person walking down the street, and I'm always eager to see what … Read more
Steve is a wonderful photographer, but this is not just for the aesthetic beauty in his photographs. More so than his talent with the camera, Steve manages to capture the spirit of the moment in his scenes, whether it be a seagull in mid flight or a lone person walking down the street, and I'm always eager to see what new shots he's taken and his prose to describe them.
