In a land where ghosts and ghost stories were as common and accepted as the gray, curling moss dripping from the oak and pecan trees, the art of storytelling was a rite of passage in any young Southerners' life.

As for myself, quite literally raised "on the bayou", I was not immune to this bard-like existence.

Writing since I could hold a pen, I have put out an extensive mess of words that have, over the years, accumulated into a myriad of web sites, blogs, and even a few published works. Words do not – yet – a paycheck make, however, and I currently pay the bills as a web designer for a great local company. I keep up my geeky street cred with a website (Skatoolaki Online) and a blog (Digitopus).

I reside in Louisiana's lovely capital city of Baton Rouge with my boyfriend of eleven years (fiancé since Christmas Day 2008!), five cats, and a fish named Google.

And, no, my other car is not a pirogue.

To explain some of the more seemingly "morbid" photos here - those of graves & graveyards found in the Graving set - you may also want to view my graving blogs, where a lot of my graving pics (and the stories behind them) end up: Graver's Journal and my graving Tumblr. You may also be interested in my profile on the Find A Grave website, which got me into the hobby of "graving"; on there I am skatoolaki as well.

My artistic/photography pics taken on my cemetery jaunts can be viewed at my photo set Quietus. My oh-so humble attempts at Photoshop editing can be found in my Photoshop Play set.

If you're in to that sort of thing, or love history and stories from our past, you should also check out my photo set Brandon Hall Cemetery and the accompanying website, The Brandon Children.

To those that are curious, my shots are presently taken on a Nikon Coolpix L14.
