"You are the different drummer everyone claims to dance to", as told to me by a friend once, now that that is out of the way...

A photojournalist in approach, more into a documentary style of photography, I certainly don't claim to be an artistic photographer, but documentary photography can still have an injection of creativity...

My favourite subjects for photography

1) Public events and street photography - I love photographing people, all sorts of people whether at an event or just hanging out downtown or at the park or... etc... I do a mix of street portraiture and more candid street photography.

2) Stage performance - I enjoy photographing stage performance at various events, whether it is poetry slam, dance, music, whatever is being performed on stage really. My specific involvements are with the Calgary Spoken Word Festival, Afrikadey and Expo Latino.

3) Classic Car Shows and classic cars in general - I have always had a real love affair with the automobile (especially classic imports)

4) Other photography - When I get a chance I also enjoy photography outside the big city, lately my muse for those times is the Canadian prairies (Alberta and Saskatchewan), I rarely photograph mountains anymore, does that sound wrong? LOL

5) Vintage photos - I also have a love of old, vintage pictures. I have a large collection of vintage photos I have collected, occasionally I'll scan them and post some, and also have a small family collection of vintage pictures and slides

My Camera Gear:

1) Nikon D90 - almost ready for retirement, I've taken over 135K photos with it!

2) A number of different film cameras that I've acquired, the ones that I know work include an Olympus Trip 35, Canonet QL17 GIII and Voigtlander Vitomatic 1

3) Minolta XG-M SLR camera (ca. 1981) - The camera that got me into more serious photography, I haven't used it in a long time now.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I think Calgary community is the most organized in Canada and my impression is that its success comes largely because of James’s exceptional patience and organizational skills. James is extremely kind person who is always there when you need advice or feedback."
