Flash Parker Photography:
My Blog | On Facebook | Flash Light Photography Expeditions | The Ubiquitous Kimchi
By day Flash Parker is a wilderness survival expert in the same tradition as Paul Bunyan and Shaft. He has been known to wrestle grizzly bears to a draw, crack turtle shells with his bare hands, and crawl inside a living moose for warmth.
By night Flash is a screenwriter, author and photographer from Ontario, Canada. Flash has spent the last few years traveling far and wide in search of inspiration, with his photographic adventures taking him across Canada and the USA, Europe, Asia, Oceania and South America. His work has been published by GQ Magazine, Lonely Planet, Conde Nast, Asian Geographic, Escape Magazine, AFAR Magazine, Groove Magazine, Reader’s Digest, American Cowboy and more. Some of his more interesting stories have been translated into different languages, none of which he can read. Additionally, Flash was nominated for a PATA Gold Award in destination journalism, though he lost in record fashion.
Flash is interested in responsible travel, typography, the economics of life on the road, and good beer. He speaks a little bit of Korean, a little less French, and a heck of a lot more English than he lets on.
Flash has a flickr stream he loves, a Twitter page somewhere out there, a Facebook page he updates once in a while, and a LinkedIn profile for anyone over the age of 50.
Along with Dylan Goldby, Flash operates Flash Light Photography Expeditions.
Flash Light Photography Expeditions is dedicated to providing in-depth photographic adventures to keen photography enthusiasts from around the globe. We provide tours to destinations in South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Canada, The United States and the world over. We are the premiere choice of photography enthusiasts looking to take their image-making and photojournalism skills to the next level. We are proponents of responsible travel, eco-tourism and global ethics. www.flashlightexpeditions.com
I live in Canada, but I spent a lot of time on the road. Find me out there, and I'll buy you a beer.

"Although Shawn and I worship at different altars, he at the stobist pagoda and I at the rangefinder monastery, we share a common vision and a love for travel. I shoot the world the way it is, Shawn flashes the world into subservience one well placed strobe at a time until the world is what it should be. Although always authentic his photos are better than reality. Despite being Canadian he probably won't steal your soul, but I make no promises. Don't ever trust him to read a map, even if he holds it right-side up.
I met Shawn almost by chance, but we were destined for friendship from the beginning. We began an illiadic tour of South Korea and managed to see more in a week than most people see in a lifetime. We shared stories of Sean Penn douchebaggery and Korean crusades. Mr. Flash has an eye for photography like no one else I know. He manages to be creative in environments I'd find stale. That is a skill few have. The cruelty of the situation is that photography is not what he's best at. He's also an excellent writer. His clever mantra always leaves me with a smile on his face. From angry ajima to the roughest of the rough, Russian hookers Shawn is someone I'd always like to be with when I hear the words, "Hey you, you vant SEXXXXX?""

Damian Yearwood says:
"Flash is more than just a phenomenal photographer, he is also a genuinely incredible person. While most professional photographers hold tightly to their methods or seek to profit from them, Mr. Parker openly shares his exif data, strobist info and filter tips. He hasn't been in the photography world very long, but the great strides and achievements he has made in that short time are truly amazing.
I am extremely proud to call him both a friend and an inspiration."
