The travel-bug runs in my family. My grandfather used to joke that if he said the word "go," my grandmother would be sitting in the front seat of the car with her purse within seconds. I grew up traveling the US on car camping trips with my mother reading the highlights of any area from the AAA guide book. Every trip required at least one stop dedicated to meeting new species either botanical or biological (particularly birds).

My lust for cultural learning was sparked in high school when I traveled to Puerto Rico with the youth orchestra to represent the US in an international music festival. This is where I discovered the wonders of communicating with people without speaking the language. It was an eye-opening experience and it changed my life forever as it fueled my desire to explore the world. During college, I spent my summers working in Alaska and I studied in Communist Poland for a semester abroad. After graduation I interned in Finland for a year. Upon completion of that program, I took the Trans-Siberian Railroad from Moscow to Beijing via Mongolia. I moved to Alaska (for one very cold winter) and then worked on small cruise ships in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest for awhile before moving to Texas to get my MBA. I moved to Connecticut in 2007.

I've been taking pictures my whole life. I switched to digital before my trip to Antarctica in 2006. I use Canon cameras and a variety of Canon and other third party lenses.

My photography will continue to take me to new places. I try to shoot when the light is most dramatic, during those magic times just before sunrise and just after sunset. I strive to capture the cultural and biological diversity of the world.
