Hello and welcome to my profile page. I’m Rob, 35, from Stirling in Scotland. I’ve recently (2013) completed my Bsc (Honours) in Natural Sciences with the Open University, and I’ve always had an incredible passion for nature. I studied our planet from the bottom-up; geology, oceanography, ecosystems, evolution, specialising in environmental science. For my dissertation I studied the common toad Bufo bufo and biotic/abiotic interactions. My real passion and inspiration is the wildlife we share our planet with and I hope my photostream reflects that.

I’m a Nikon user and purchased my first camera (D40) back in 2008. I have upgraded a couple of times now, the D60, and currently the D90. I have used a variety of lenses over the years but my recent work results from either the Nikon AF-S MICRO NIKKOR 105mm 1:2.8G ED (macro) or 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 G, and occasionally my old kit AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 GII ED. I’m also a big fan of Photoshop. I use Elements 6 and it’s rare for me to upload an image that hasn’t been processed in some way, even if it’s just been slightly cropped.

I use Flickr primarily as an extra way to backup my images, but I do enjoy ‘playing the game’, and I have made some fantastic friends and contacts, and learned some amazing things in doing so.

I’m also the Administrator of the groups Wildlife In Scotland & Flanders Moss NNR. The Wildlife In Scotland group was created with the aim of making connections with likeminded people and sharing wildlife experiences and photography tips, as well as showcasing the wonderful wildlife that can be found here in Scotland. I have put a lot of hard work into this group and I am incredibly proud of its success. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THAT CONTRIBUTE!

The Flanders Moss NNR group is much smaller scale and was created simply because it’s my favourite place to visit in search for wildlife. The nature reserve is local and through the summer months it’s rare for me to return home from the moss without a memory card full of new discoveries.

"Thanks for doing this (www.mirrorreflect...) Rob, I'll probably never use the process but it's good to know that people such as yourself will help others out by sharing the knowledge of how to do so.
