"I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
and all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by."

I'm a Newfoundlander, in love with the ocean and the wind and the serrated shores of home. Until recently I thought it was impossible for photography to do justice to the sky and the sea. What I can do with a camera is to show some of the aspects of the plenum that appeal to me. While I may not be succesful, I'm having fun trying.

I currently administer:

Celtic
Where once they stood we stand
Peter Pan
Nor' eastern

My blog's name is in honour of John Masefield, and of the "lonely gypsy life".

"I first stumbled on Rexton's photos because of my nostalgic love for Newfoundland. Atlantic Canada holds some of the most beautiful places in the world for me, and Rexton captures their beauty and atmosphere magnificently.

I love visiting his stream - his descriptions and photos are always worth it!

Rexton has become not just a flickr contact, but a real friend."

"I am always fascinated by what Rexton comes up with photographically, as he has a wonderful eye for detail, atmosphere and composition. Equally importantly, he has the technical photographic ability to render his impressions with exquisite clarity, mastery and ingenuity. A wander through his pictures most days because he shoots the world I know with the characteristics I want always to see in it; beauty, intricacy, fascination and awe."
