Pierrick Gaumé is a French-born visual artist & industrial designer. His illustrative drawings, paintings & collages started being part of private collections in 1994. After traveling in Europe, in the Middle East and in America, Pierrick Gaumé came up with a photography practice & style of his own in 2009. Since then, the Automorphoses became the most iconic & comprehensive artwork series of his.

Although he earned an Industrial Design MA from the Paris-based École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, art remains predominant in Pierrick Gaumé’s career. Working as an industrial designer, graphic designer, art director or product design history teacher as well made him aware of his peculiar perception of car design, city planning, architecture and optical illusions. Since 1997, Pierrick Gaumé’s artwork was mostly exhibited in Paris, in Tel-Aviv (where he lived for a few years), in the San Francisco Bay Area and in France’s Loire Valley, which he called home again.

In 2006, long road trips across Italy came as a new challenge for Pierrick Gaumé to rethink how to picture what he saw. In making this challenge playful, he unlearned and relearned photography composition, capture and framing rules for the shots he named Automorphoses. After printing these self-distorting anamorphic reflections he captured on cars in cities, Pierrick Gaumé found his way back to art shows & sales with his photography artwork.

From 2007 to 2020, he kept traveling and working on new exhibits in the United States of America, in France, in Israel and in Italy. In 2013, his solo exhibit at Peugeot’s Paris headquarters and the release of his Paris-Morphoses book encouraged Pierrick Gaumé to push his photography forward. After his series of Automorphoses that were specific to San Francisco and Paris, he trained his skills with more reflection captures in London, Brussels, Turin, Bologna, Milan and Tours, in the heart of the Loire Valley.

In 2019, a series of Automorphoses that Gaumé produced in Milan, Italy was chosen by a gallery to be featured in the next Milano Photofestival. Due to the Coronavirus flu pandemic in 2020, this upcoming show of Automorphoses is rescheduled to take place in the Spring of 2021.

Pierrick had joined Flickr in 2007 and left it in 2015. He rejoined it on Nov 1, 2020 but mostly posts watermarked photos in medium resolution.
