Dilettante with delusions of academia. These days content to be a middle-aged slacker and grow plants for a living. I have just written a humungous novel however (not on gardening) called Fruition which is available from Lulu (see gabrielfortune.blogspot.com). Paul Grand (qv) who I contacted on Flickr did the covers.
I am also running a nursery called Brighton Plants, for the rare and unusual (plants that is, not people, although, come to think of it...) Please go to brightonplants.blogspot.com if you're interested.

    Paul Grand says:

" After reading only a third of 'Fruit' as I'm still awaiting the final copies, hot off the press, of Steve's quadrilateral opus, I can honestly say,
    Steve has enormous literary talent.
If his next project is anything like his imaginative Fruit novels,
he's going to be big in all the right circles, and I'm not talking garden 'fairy rings' here!
Describing himself as a simple gardener is like Leonardo calling himself a house decorator.
Watch this guy, he's going to be famous...Very soon!
Oh, and do buy the books, they're an epic travelogue of a journey through the multiple lives of one person, trying to get it right"
