The Needlemakers Company sprang from one of the original craft guilds and was granted livery in 1656 by Oliver Cromwell, then by Charles II in 1664. It represents an ancient craft whose origins are lost in the mists of time.

The Company's key aims are to maintain strong links with the City, other livery companies and the Lord Mayor. The Company also provides charitable donations and support to a range of organisations and charities, as well as creating a friendly environment for like minded people to enjoy formal and informal events.
