Parent, Grandparent, married 50+ years

Opinionated but a good listener with an open mind. I've learned that life doesn't always go the way you write the play - you have to be ready to take the curves and take the curves and then the next curves. The curves never stop.

Never take good health for granted and don't eat fried food. If you're gonna drink - make it a margarita. Don't curse the Lord and never take His name in vain. Be thankful for your blessings. Never let the sun go down without saying thanks.

If you want to use my photos, I want to know. Please just send me a flickr mail and I'll almost always be flattered by the request. In some cases, you'll get a blanket approval for use but I have to trust you first.

PS: This shouldn't even need to be said, if you add me as a contact, please be assured that I'll return the courtesy if I find that your photostream is clean and that you have wonderful photos in your favorites AND THAT YOU'RE NOT FOLLOWING THOUSANDS OF OTHERS. And, if you add me as a contact and never commented on my photos, I'll not add you until or unless you have commented. Contacts become friends and a friendship isn't one-sided. However, contacts, if I find that I'm the only one commenting and giving faves, you will be removed from my contacts. I used to say that I wasn't interested in POLITICS - and I wish I could still say that. However, let's say I'm not terribly into politics but I'm developing an attitude about our government and what is in office - both sides. I've decided we'd do better to pick hardened criminals out of prison but mind you - only murderers, not thieves. We've got plenty of thieves in office now!

"Karen is a friend. I am very proud to say that.
By the way, dont try to match wits with this wonderful lady.
    You lose.
The one comment i look for on my picures.
I feel like she belongs to me.
I should be writing a testimonial to her Gene. He had the good sense to marry this remarkable lady.
    Here i quote Karen:
"Opinionated but a good listener with an open mind. I've learned that life doesn't always go the way you write the play - you have to be ready to take the curves and take the curves and then the next curves. The curves never stop".
    All our love and respect,

    Brian Negus says:

"Karen's photographs are wonderful. There are many excellent bird photographs in her photostream and this is all the more remarkable in view of her visual impairment. Karen and I are both visually impaired and I fully endorse her advice that "you have to be ready to take the curves and take the curves and then the next curves". When it gets difficult to do things the way you used to do them, just look for another way.
Karen's photos and text are also a fascinating insight into her world, her family and life in Texas in particular.
Karen is an exceptional and tireless Flickr friend, as others have said. I'm always keen to get her thoughtful comments and she's often spotted details in my shots I was totally unaware of.
So Karen, thanks for letting us see your photography and thanks for taking so much time to consider ours."

"Karen's photography is inspirational. I am particularly drawn in to her ability to capture nature in action. Birds, tutles, spiders, butterflies... Not to mention her family shots are filled with energy, activity and love! A few minutes browsing her photostream and this will be obvious to anyone.

She's encouraging to me - a beginner - and I appreciate that a great deal. Thanks for the support K!"

"Blessed with the same name as I have, Karen has been an inspiration to me. Suffering an eye problem that certainly must be so challenging for a photographer, she takes amazing photos. She has shown me her home state with her wonderful images and makes me wish I were there. Perhaps someday I will make it down there and can meet her and take a photo trip with her as my guide. I hope you will take time and view her photostream. You will not be disappointed....Karyn (augray)"

"Karen thank you for encouraging me to accept your invitation to join Flickr!! Seems we have been doing that to each other forever. You are a source of encouragement not only to me but everyone else in your life. We have know each other since Kindergarten when you were in those beautiful long braided pony tails, gee, what I would give to be able to go back with my camera and capture you in them and the day you came to school after 6 years plus of braids in your stylish grown up hair-cut. Not only do you encourage but you support and inspire!! Thanks for your forever friendship and love. Larry and I list you and Gene on the top of our special people list. Keep clicking and sharing so we can all keep enjoying the fruits of your labor. Proverbs 16:24 & 17:17a"
