I'm a non-practicing sculptor (save for an occasional Burning Man creation) currently making a living selling software. (SF is lovely, but EXPENSIVE!)
I've always loved photography and playing in the darkroom, going back to my first Nikomat at age 15. I've recently rediscovered my enthusiasm for photography when I purchased my Canon SD700 IS PowerShot about 6 months ago. I've always had a bias for analog, but the convenience and quality output of this new camera has made me a convert.
I have both a fine art and computer degree, so this seems like a natural progression for me. In addition to photography, I have done a lot of painting and printmaking which I think helps inform my photographic work. (I think I am a much better painter and printmaker then photographer though.)
Update: I just purchased a Canon Rebel XTi and love it! Even though I still own some great Nikon analog SLRs, I was so impressed with my little PowerShot that I went with the Canon. I'm having a lot of fun playing with my new toy and putting it through its paces. I can already see the difference in quality in my pics and hope to keep growing as a photographer.
I've been fortunate enough to travel to all 50 states in the US. Here are the countries I've been to (there are still a lot more to visit! ) ;).
