My photograph "Foggy Wood" will be appearing in this National Geographic Book by Annie Griffths Belt. The book is going to be released Oct 19th, 2010.
Simply beautiful Photographs
Just as its title indicates, National Geographic Simply Beautiful Photographs plumbs the depth of National Geographic's renowned Image Collection to highlight the loveliest and most appealing photographs from this impressive archive. The result is an experience of visual delight, whether from stunning landscapes, magnificent wildlife, fascinating people, or quaint locales. Award-winning National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths Belt has chosen remarkable images from all of the Society's core mission areas: exploration, wildlife, cultures, science, nature. Each chapter showcases a specific aspect of what creates beauty in a photograph, whether light or color, or motion, and illuminates that quality in a splash of large-format images —most of which readers will be able to purchase as prints. Musings on visual beauty from scholars and poets enhance the experience, making this gorgeous collection a pleasure to look at again and again.

A word to my friends:
I want to thank all of you for the generous invites to join a myriad of groups. Right now, I am finding it hard to sort through the groups that I am in already. I rarely post a photo to more than six groups. Unless I was invited to an invite group. And I follow the rules of the group and it bugs me when others do not. I believe in respecting the group.

I will still consider your invites to groups, but what I look for in a group is the following:

Does the group require comments? I have found that groups that are a repository just for images without comments are ok but not for me.

Is it an invite only group? I like groups that operate on this basis because some of the best photos are found in groups like those.

Is there something unique about the group that sets it apart from the rest? If I see a group that is unique I am more apt to join.

Thanks all for considering this and please do not be offended if I do not join a group. It just becomes difficult to sort through so many.

Thanks all.

"What can I say about Bob that hasn't already been said? Bob is an extremely talented professional photographer who is always willing to provide advice and guidance for new photographers. His photographs of nature and landscape are beautiful, which is why he's been published in so many places! Many of his nature photographs are instant favorites.

At club meetings, Bob is usually the guy newer photographers like me look to for advice on improving our skills. He's extremely humble, and is willing to take the time for one-on-one teaching sessions. I'm glad to know him."

"Bob is an amazing person so willing to share his knowledge and to help guide beginers to become great photographers. I cant put it into words how appreciated it is. every time i post a pic i cant wait to see what suggestions, comments, pointers or praise you will give. As someone just learning about photography it is very helpfull...and its the little things that you seem to see that makes the difference in the next shot.

Now every time i drive by the creamery i think of you wanting me to get up on the roof to take that bridge shot lol and everyday i look at that bridge in different ways waiting to see the perfect shot i think it is comming soon lol.

Your shots are spectacular and i get so much out of every one. All the details and different compositions i have never thought of. Every one is a winner/fav in my books.

Keep up the great work and again thanks

    "Bob -> HDR Guru.

That says it all. I'm still trying to figure out how all this things work but his pictures just makes you go "Aaaaaaaaaaah...!" The way in which he renders his images with HDR is so amazing you can never see such beauty even in reality.

Its briliant to know that someone has the same camera as you do and take better pics that you since you can also share and learn from them to get better with yours. Bob does that precisely. His knowledge on the Sony DSC H1 is far better than mine and has commented and helped me on numerous occasions.

My love and support for bob remains strong as we see how each other fare with our pictures everyday. Its big time fun, believe me. !"

He has a master's touch with HDR that enhances natural beauty to the point of becoming breathtaking. I was never a fan of HDR until I ran across Bob's impressive photos. He captures the beauty in the world around him for all to see. I love to go and visit his photos to see what he has to offer today. Give it a try and be prepared for some beautiful and captivating images."
