Hi, I’ve been here since Flickr was in beta but I’m less active now. All my photos are CC licenced so are still available. I am still administering my groups.

I am hopeful that I may return to full active Flickr use at some future date.

I recently sought advice re displays from Linda, and in a time of stress to me personally, she offered support and guidance. I am so grateful for the time she gave me in her professional capacity as I am now feeling like I am reaping the rewards of that advice. I wanted to do such and such displays but really was afraid and not sure how or where to start. Linda said the best tip she could give me was to do one thing at a time. A day/morning etc spent planning ahead for the year/term would be beneficial as it would help me to list the items I'd be likely to want, need, use, etc. What resources would I have to access and how much could I get done practicably. I follow her blog and enjoy being part of the classroom displays group; there is always something new, exciting and sometimes just the simplest of displays or ideas can evolve. I used Linda's advice well. I planned my display themes for January - March back in December/early January. I know in my head what I am doing next, what I want to try to do and how to prepare. Sometimes, I get frustrated with the way the end result looks compared the grand plan. But...I have discovered that it doesn't really matter so much. Other people have enjoyed the displays. Some of them haven't been messed about with. They are getting a lot of attention but I hadn't realised until a member of the SLT gave me a compliment on them this week. Until then I wasn't really sure what people thought as they tend to walk past them all the time but not have time to have a good look. I'm in a prominent place where I work. All visitors see the LRC so I am making a real effort to change and update the displays so that they promote the LRC. It seems that the drip feed approach has some impact. My next step is to compile a user survey and to ask people to rate the LRC displays. Since January, I've recorded and evidenced the work on flickr. I get a great sense of satisfaction from seeing the idea turn into a plan and then become a real feature. Thanks Linda! So all I need to do now is re-visit my ideas for after Easter until the end of term in July. The year is flying by. Kind regards, Lou
