Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists. It is real. It is possible. It is yours. – Ayn Rand

The contemplation of things as they are
without error or confusion
without substitution or imposture
is in itself a nobler thing
than a whole harvest of invention.

- Dorothea Lange

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle -- Albert Einstein

"Humanity is like a giant spiderweb. If you touch it anywhere, you set the whole thing trembling. As we move around this world and as we act with kindness, perhaps, or with indifference, or with hostility, toward the people we meet, we too are setting the great spider web a-tremble. The life that I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place and time my touch will be felt. Our lives are linked. No man is an island."
~ Frederick Buechner, 1969

"After all is Said and Done, and the Dust Settles on the Battlefield of
Politics, Art Endures.
Despite the Wars, Destruction and Bloodshed caused by cycle after cycle of
Political Struggle, Art Endures to inspire future generations.
Just look for example, at what is considered priceless and irreplaceable in
our world: the treasures of Antiquity, of the Renaissance, and the work of
Masters to the present day.

"The world of Beauty resonates throughout the Ages and Beckons Humanity to a
Higher Consciousness.
Man does not live by bread alone. The spirit is nourished by the gossamer
message of Beauty and Art and without it, the soul of Humanity dies."

"Laurie is a fantastic artist, and a wonderful human being. Her photography relays her wonderful skill at composition, color balance, light and relaying important information. Her kindness and desire for the world to be a better place exudes in each and every one of her photographs as well as in her commentary on others' work. If all artists were as kind and giving as Laurie, we would be one step closer to showing the world that love and acceptance is truly the most valuable things we can offer as people. What an inspiration she is!!!"

"I love having Laurie's photos, as well as ChiChi, Pearl, Carmen, and Turtle Time Farm in my life. It's special to be a friend and neighbor to a dedicated artist who is also such a humanitarian and has a profound respect for nature and animals. If you haven't seen the film she and Carmen made together, FREEDOM TO MARRY, do check it out!

A wide variety of subject matter characterizes Laurie's photos, along with a nice little splash of whimsy. Her painterly eye informs the powerful compostions and rich tones in her photos. Laurie York is a gem. You go girl!"

"Laurie is an inspirational artist, and I am so grateful that our virtual paths have crossed on flickr. She is creative to the core, and I am continually delighted to get a glimpse of her vision of the world. With the eye of a painter, she often tells a story and conveys an emotion simply through her masterful use of light, color, shape and texture. Whether her subject is an abstract reflection, the Mendocino coastline, the detail of a flower, or the eyes of a child, her photography always moves me. But I feel that her photostream is more than just a showcase of her art; it is also full of little pieces of her own life, her own thoughts, her own magnificent view of the world. Although we have never met in person, I feel like I know Laurie. And I know that she has inspired me not only to be a better photographer but a better human being as well."

"When viewing Laurie’s photostream it is evident that it is the work of an artist. The beautiful compositions and well-honed skills enhance the subjects. It is Laurie’s involvement with those subjects that infuse her photos with light and life. Laurie’s love and respect for people, animals and the world around her give passion to her work. She is a storyteller, using words to paint further backgrounds through poetry and prose. Humor is another tool she employs so well. She is generous with her art, sharing techniques, philosophies and encouragement to fellow photographers. Her art is a pleasure and an inspiration."

"I could tell right away when I first logged on to Flickr that Laurie is a super talented photographer who not only displayed incredible images, but who also is an icon on the site. Laurie has a Picassian energy that produces incredible art. I am one of many who must always log on to see her latest work, which is both inspiring and brave. Her place as a working artist is well marked and deserved, and we should all be inspired by her."

"Laurie's photographs could be straight out of Life magazine or National Geographic. Her editorial style is amazing. She really captures the beauty of america. The simple life, if you will. Her eye is second to none. She could set one foot out her door and take 100 amazing pictures. I don't know how she does it."

"Laurie's photos fill me, quite simply, with joy. She takes a picture of a dog but it's not just a picture of a dog. Look at his face! She's captured that moment when he's looking up at his person with pure love and devotion. Her photos are deep and they tell the story of the human experience; what we all have and may not celebrate or be thankful for in our own lives until we see it reflected in Laurie's beautiful photographs."

"Laurie is a consummate artist, for she finds and creates beauty within her everyday life and she brings light to the dark places in our American culture (which I think is the role of a true artist: to see the good along with the bad and comment upon them both.) I feel so fortunate to have "met" her through Flickr, and to get her input on my work. She is such an inspiration to me; can I be just like Laurie when I grow up? :)"

Laurie is very tallented artist. great painter. her paitings are special. she knows how to close her thoughts and feelings inside of the picture. She is a great photographer. Her photos are full of life, of love, of to-day beauties. Laurie is also a filmmaker. She is changing the people's minds with her work.
