"Describe Yourself..."
Isn't that what the images are for?
"No, Really... Describe Yourself..."
Ughh... If I must... (maybe when I get another one of those ever fleeting moments of free time)
Ok, I managed to find a few moments so I'll sum it up with this:
If I were a seasoned professional photographer since birth, this section would be full of blather about how I made my first pin-hole camera when I was 9 months old and on the cover of Life at age 10 and how the rest is history.
But I'm not, so it isn't.
For the longest time, my Father had an old Nikon Nikormat. The exact model I don't know, but I think it was an "FT"; circa 1965. With this at hand, I began to learn my way around a completely manual SLR camera, taking some of my first images at the forest preserve near our home. Some of them still hang in my home.
My real story is this; I like pictures... it's as simple as that. I like looking at them, I like the curiosity they provoke about the scene, I like wondering what it was like to be there and see what the photographer saw. Would the scene provoke the same emotion in me as it did the photographer, had I been there? This is what goes into each of my compositions.
