Give me some love over at my blog, Arizona Writer. Photography, family life, Arizona nature, and my attempt at humor. Contains spiders.

Also check out the group I administer, Kids and Nature.

Check out the new photostream of my husband, whose new Flickr fixation is at least partly my fault.

And finally, check out the fruits of my eight-year-old son's growing hobby. No one is safe from his photographic prowess.

I'm many things, though perhaps I should be busier, considering the amount of time I devote to my Flickr addiction. I'm a 30-year-old mom, journalist, wife, geek, nature lover, and science and travel writer. I like animals more than people, except for my husband and seven-year-old son. I'm from the Arizona desert, I subsist on Coke for days at a time and I'm a writer by trade, but I like to fancy myself a photographer. I believe I am clever. I believe most people believe themselves to be clever, and I believe most are wrong. I like many things that are outside the norm, and many that are firmly within it. I'm very OK with this. I believe nonconformism is patently cliché. I've middled politically in my old age, which is to say traveled significantly farther left than where I used to hang. My father is probably trying to pierce the veil of the afterlife just to debate the points with me. My husband fills in admirably.

There is one thing I am truly happy for during the past Bank Holiday - that is accidently comming across Kim Hosey's photos. What inspiration and effortless (well, the whole bunch seems effortless) masterpieces they all are. Each one I have enjoyed in a differentiating way, but all are exeptional. I wont even go to her narrative!! All I am able to say is that it does put me to shame!! Your words bound off the screen and straight into my mind. A few thing we are even agreeing on; lollipos (icickles) on teeth! UGH! Love myself./hate myself - at times. The lists....................BRILLIANT! DIOLCH YN FAWR IAWN. (thanx in my language)

I am not easily impressed. Maybe that's because everyone can do everything in the technological revolution. But Kim's photos astound me. They are well composed, perfectly colored, and interesting. I am not easily impressed. Maybe that's because everyone can do everything in the technological revolution. But Kim's photos astound me. They are well composed, perfectly colored, and interesting. But what I like best about them is what I like best about photography. They make the tiny huge. How much fun is it to see the hairs on a fly and the eyes of a grasshopper and the underside of a cricket and a kid in the background of chocolate chip cookies? Kim Hosey's photos are like the mind of a six-year-old boy married with beauty and art. It's cool boy stuff dressed up so that grownups like it, too.
