An Advisory Partner and Principal of the New England Consulting Group, John B. Richards has worked as a marketing and Chief Executive for several high-profile international companies. In his current position, he has developed growth plans for Ahava, Medifast, and Mimi's Cafe among others. His resume also includes executive positions with Elizabeth Arden, Starbucks, and Four Seasons Hotels.
After working with a team of executives to help grow Four Seasons into an international company with properties in 20 countries, John B. Richards was recruited by Starbucks in 1997 to oversee operations in North America. In only three years with Starbucks, Mr. Richards secured 2,100 new retail locations for the coffee company, resulting in revenue growth from $400 million to $2.5 billion. Following his departure in 2000, he served as president and CEO of Dean & DeLuca, where he reversed an estimated $10 million loss and led the private sale of the company.
John B. Richards' leadership skills were developed at an early age. In high school, he served as president of the student government association, and while attending Bucknell University, he was president of the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta. Mr. Richards achieved his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and was awarded the Honeywell Common Market and the Wharton Public Policy Fellowship.
