University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign graduate Dr. Joel Todd Leroy Prince cares for the pets of the greater Chicago area at Elmhurst Animal Care Center, Naperville Animal Hospital, and Wheaton Animal Hospital. Dr. Joel Todd Leroy Prince holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University, and he continues to develop his expertise with over 100 hours of additional training per year. In 1993, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in the area of dog and cat medicine, a credential held by only 15 veterinarians residing in Illinois.
In addition to his notable training and nearly 30 years of experience, Dr. Prince strives to provide patients with the best treatment options, customizable care, and latest veterinary advances. At Elmhurst Animal Care Center, for example, vaccination schedules are tailored to pet needs based on home location, outdoor activities, and interaction with other animals at events like breed shows. Elmhurst’s top-of-the-line facilities allow him to provide his veterinary patients with heated surgical tables, CO2 surgical lasers to reduce pain and bleeding, the latest in anesthesia delivery equipment, and electro-cauterization to reduce post-surgical infection. Additional services offered by the Elmhurst Animal Care Center include grooming, pet daycare, boarding facilities, and training courses.
Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all animals, Dr. Prince also provides free or reduced price care for abused and stray animals in partnership with the local Humane Society and a variety of animal rescue groups. Through these efforts, the Naperville Animal Hospital successfully provided care to over 20,000 animals in need. In his free time, Dr. Joel Todd Leroy Prince also enjoys spending time with his children and two dogs, Del and Bella.
