Private investor and researcher Jean-Jacques Degroof holds more than 25 years of financial experience, working in the United States and several countries throughout Europe. He began his career in the banking industry, working as a Credit Analyst for BNP Paribas Fortis (formerly Générale de Banque) in Gent and Brussels, Belgium. For the next several years, Jean-Jacques Degroof served a number of firms in Brussels. In 1986, he left BNP to become a Human Resources Manager for Banque Degroof. Two years later, he accepted a position as a Private Banking Manager. In 1996, Jean-Jacques Degroof started working as a Director for the Bank Degroof Group, a financial services organization. He served in this capacity for two years before leaving to create and manage the asset management company Alena S.A.

 

More recently, Jean-Jacques Degroof began focusing on conducting research. From 2002 to 2004, he worked on a project investigating innovation systems for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge. Jean-Jacques Degroof also performed research through the University of Liège in Belgium, and held a Center for Business and Government fellowship through Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, also in Cambridge. Based on the research conducted through this fellowship and his doctorate at MIT, Jean-Jacques Degroof completed an article about overcoming weak entrepreneurial infrastructures, which was published in the July 2004 issue of The Journal of Technology Transfer. Additionally, Jean-Jacques Degroof worked in the academic sector, serving as a Visiting Professor at the Audencia Nantes School of Management and the École des Mines in Nantes, France. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Labor Studies from the Catholic University of Louvain’s Institute of Labor Sciences in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Furthermore, Jean-Jacques Degroof earned a Master of Science and a doctorate in Management from MIT.
