Photography for me is synonymous to going out and discovering. In parallel with street photography, I'm covering some of the news, mostly in Paris but also abroad (G8 in Germany, elections in Pakistan and Bolivia, Climate Summit in Copenhagen, earthquake in Haiti, G20 in Toronto) as part of a "photojournalism" work.
The latter has been mentioned in newspapers Le Monde and Le Figaro as well as French TV channel LCI, with photos featured in Le Journal du Dimanche, CNN Exchange, RMC Info, BBC World, Salon, German MAX magazine (April 06 issue) and the cover of JPG magazine (Street Photography issue). My submissions to National Press Photographers Association - Best of Photojournalism 2007 were awarded the 1st places in the News and Photojournalism categories for Amateurs Photoblogs.
In June 2008, I finally decided to put an end to a 13-year career in investment banking to dedicate myself to photojournalism. In Sept. 2008, I was awarded in Perpignan the "Tremplin Photo" grant for a 6 month formation at the EMI-CFD. My recent work is distributed by Wostok Press.

Photography is the easiest art, which perhaps makes it the hardest.” - Lisette Model
"If your photographs aren’t good enough, you aren’t reading enough.” - Tod Papageorge
James Nachtwey, postface of L'Enfer.
One agency photographer remembers meeting Antonin Kratochvil at a Croatia refugee camp, thinking he was some shaggy-haired old loser who got there too late. “I got everything,” he boasted, “food distribution, water queue, ICRC doctors, tents, kids being vaccinated, the whole story. Now I’m going to file." Kratochvil looked at him and said, "You missed it. It’s about boredom, baby, boredom."

One of the very best on Flickr. He always finds the graphic essence.
Bravo!
Maybe the best photoreporter of Flickr's community.
Hugo is one of the greats. An outstanding photographer whose interpretative development is extraordinary. A world class photographer giving us superb, cutting edge images. One of Flickr's best, for sure...
There are few streams that I visit on a regular basis. Hugo's is one of them. He has created an aesthetic of his own without becoming redundant or predictable. A casual style and undeniably brilliant eye conspire to create one memorable image after another.
Hughes photographies are full of power, contrast, light and story. His work is inspiring and perfect promotion for paris... He is definitely one of the best photographers on flickr. Thanks Hughes!
A master of light and observation; Hugo's daring photojournalism speaks of more than most writers can put to words, his silhouettes are stunning examples of composition, and his black and whites are flawless.
