The Field Museum Library
The formation of The Field Museum Library’s collections began in 1894 with initial transfers of books from the libraries of various departments of the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. Currently, the Library serves the Museum’s staff, visiting scholars and the general public.

The Library Photo Archives
The Library Photo Archives collection comprises over 250,000 images in the areas of Anthropology, Botany, Geology, and Zoology. The collection also documents the history and architecture of the Museum, its exhibitions, staff and scientific expeditions.

The Library Photo Archives on Flickr
As part of our research and outreach goals, we are very interested in getting the feedback of the Flickr community on our photos, and we will be adding to our sets on a regular basis. To start with, we will be uploading the results of two scanning projects: Urban Landscapes of Illinois and 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. In the future, we hope to add some of our historical photos of turn-of-the-century scientific expeditions.
