In the past a sculptor, painter, filmmaker who has turned his creative energy to the still image for the past 50 years now.
Photography for me is a process of reduction.... a clearing out of the growing visual clutter of our everyday world. Simply put "Where to stand, where to put the edges" of personal vision.

Delay Tactics says:
"As I enter my tenth year with Flickr I would like to say that it is in large part Dom's insightful and inspiring dialogue and of course his pictures that has kept me shooting all these years, especially early on when I was really just trying to find my way with a camera.
Thank you Dom."

momentous connection says:
"Je suis très jalouse de son travail photographique. C'est une idée du silence que je retrouve chez certains peintres américains, mais aussi chez certains auteurs, eux aussi , américains. Une image d'une Amérique si discrète, si rare et très belle, qui ne se donne pas facilement, il faut la chercher. Mais, quand par hasard, on la trouve comme içi, c'est un petit moment d'éternité.
Merci pour ce moment, Dom Ciancibelli

"I've been reflecting lately that the people on flickr who make a difference are those who are open, honest and who share information, ideas and enthusiasm with humour and a generosity of spirit. These are rare and special people and, Dom is just that. His work is intelligent, sensitive and truly unique. His comments are thoughtful and thought provoking.......He is a natural born teacher and i value his input and friendship."

"i shall start off by saying that i rarely feel driven to pen a testimonial on flickr but in dom i see not only someone whose work i am simply in awe of but i totally respect him as an individual for his integrity and passion as an artist.
make no bones about it, the man is the real deal - a photographic artist who transcends the world of flickr. one day there will be books on his work.
however, it doesn't end there. dom is one of those rare flickrites who will offer genuine and thought provoking critique on your own work. and there can be nothing better than to get his approval in the form of a dom 'favourite'!!!
the fact he appreciates the work of aaron siskind as much as me is simply a bonus.
if he's not in your contact list yet then add him. you can only learn from this guy!"

"I have but one big problem with Dominic's pictures: I can't favorite them all..."

"A man who claims that he has "no interests - only passions!", Dom is one of the greats on flickr.
With a collection of photos and artwork here that spans over 30 years, Dom is without doubt an artist of the highest caliber. Since meeting him here I have come to know him as not only a great photographer and artist but also as a passionate educator and mentor.
Stop here and spend time with Dom's work. Here there are lessons in composition, color, texture, line, and form - in almost every image. Artist's like Dom inspire me, help me to stay focussed on my art, and teach me without even knowing it.
In fact, meeting artists here like Dom is what makes flickr great."

[brett walker] says:
"When I first came to Flickr i saw some work of Dom's that I had admired previously in a prestigous photo journal, the fact that photographers of such high caliber had their work here intimidated me and i felt out of my depth but ive had nothing but encouragement from this gentelman of film
Dom's gentle eye, perfect technical standards and sense of the visual poem inspires many many photographers like myself to slow down, oper our eyes and show a little more humility to an art form that was fine before we arrived and will be fine long after we are gone.
If you look up Fine in the dictionary you will find this mans work."
