When I found flickr in late 2006 when I was 18, I was thrilled to see all of the great courthouse photographs made available through this impressive website. In January of 2007, I decided to create my own account, and I have been hooked ever since.

With my photostream, I have tried to post photographs from my travels along with brief descriptions in an attempt to provide the internet with more information on the structures and locations around the United States that most interest me. The information out there for county courthouses, federal courthouses, post offices, and Carnegie libraries seems to be lacking, at least in part, and I hope that the information that I provide here will be valuable to cultural or heritage tourists.

The text that I provide with my photographs is mostly from what I have gathered from visiting these locations, so what I have written may not be completely correct. I try my best to provide accurate information such as construction dates and the names of architects. To make finding photographs easier, I try to provide geographically descriptive tags for each picture. I also map all of my photographs using flickr's mapping application.

If at any time you notice that I have erred in my descriptions or mappings, please feel free to inform me, and I will make the necessary corrections. That's one of my favorite things about flickr, you can communicate easily with the photographers. You can have peer review to a certain extent.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my photos. I hope that you enjoy them.

For those of you interested, here is the Old Denton County Courthouse, the tower of which is featured in my account icon:

"Courthouses, and other historic buildings, are what makes our communites 'home', and it is incrediable to find someone with an interest in documenting these important historic buildings! But don't let his name fool you - 'courhouselover' has hundreds of other historic buildings in his collection! You can enjoy them for hours at a time, if you let yourself!
