"Consistently the best photographer on Flickr. Always something interesting and provoking. Pure vision plain and simple."

    NateVenture says:

"Wylie's camera is the paring knife that will slowly tear away at exterior and rip the ugly you to the surface for all to see. His has one of the most uniquely provocative and creative streams on flickr. I eagerly await each new post. Some people can fake tallen and others are born with a gift, Wylie is certainly the later. From his travel work in Liberia to his model shoots with girls in deer skulls, it all tears through my mind like a 7.62FMJ. I absolutely admire is unapologetic, take-no-prisoners approach to photography. His skill is unwavering. I sit here with pupils dilated anticipating fight or flight. This stream is like a drug and the world needs more."

    Matthew Wedgwood says:

"I've been watching Wylie's work for somewhere around 2 years now, and I'm still consistently amazed every time I look at his photostream. His remarkable eye for composition combines with a focused vision to produce images thick with emotion and a style distinctly his own.

He has an uncanny talent for zeroing in on what's important in a photo and throwing out the rest. Wylie's photos, even his candids, are often something reminiscent of impressionist paintings, but on a very different sort of canvas."

"When you're creative, it's always important to aspire to a level of greatness. The nice thing about aspiring to Wylie's level is that just when you think you've caught up to him, he's jumped leaps and bounds ahead."

"It's hard to find another stream as interesting and unique as Wylie's. He's been an inspiration ever since I first saw his portraits. I must admit, a generous portion of my photo processing is nothing more than an attempt at aping Wylie Maercklein."

"wylie absolutely disgusts me. he's all talented and stuff, he's constantly making photos that are so sharp they cut your eyeballs and so beautiful they break your heart. i am sick with jealousy and yet am compelled to come back for more of his visual trickets, baubles, and true treasures. he hypnotizes everyone who gets caught in his stream. BEWARE!"

    GeorgeFrowny says:

"Wylie has a unique "talent" for exposing the grotesque and unfortunate minutiae that otherwise lay occluded, some might say where they belong, beneath the veneer of everyday life. Every skewed glance is filtered through binary-colored glasses: black and white, light and shadow, jubilation and sorrow, desolation and... loneliness? He seeks to perpetuate a terrible iconography via glass and manipulation; fortunately for us, however, he often fails in this regard and occasionally stumbles upon the transcendent and the real. Look upon these images and mock with us the confines of mortality and physical law. Gaze upon this work and weep."
