    sharonlyn says:

"There are some people who have the gift of what I call perspectacles -- adjusting the lens a certain way so that we are looking at the world around us, yes, but somehow in a different light that we never had before. H.N. James does this with her photography. With texture, shadow, reflections in water, and the keenest attention to detail, she performs this sleight of hand that asks the viewer: how long have you been living on this planet and not yet seen this? We don't know, but it's fascinating and absorbing. Universes within crystalline beads of dew on a velvety thin magnolia petal pause in reverence; a fragment of sky and spire reflects itself in the ragged puddle of a brick street. The use of shadow for design is unparalleled. I've not seen anything like it. The composition and design is quite natural, well integrated, even poetic.
This is a gentler world than the one I live in, but I want to live here, and I want more -- I'd love to see a book of these images, to pore over and dream into for sustenance and hope. This is imagery that feeds the soul and the mind."
