I was fortunate to be able to grow up seeing America from varied viewpoints. My childhood was spent in Hawaii and Indonesia. After college I worked as a community organizer on the South side of Chicago focusing on improving living conditions in poor neighborhoods.

I came to understand that to truly solve the problems facing our communities, it would take a change in our laws and our politics. I ran and served for seven years in the Illinois state Senate, where I fought for expanding children's health care, providing tax cuts for the working poor and enacting welfare reform. In 2004, I was elected to the U.S. Senate, where I worked to pass laws securing dangerous weapons and making government more accountable. I have also opposed the Iraq war from the start, and believe that we need to bring our troops home so we can refocus on the wider struggle against terrorism.

Of all my life experiences, I am most proud of my wife Michelle and my daughters Malia and Sasha.

    "Why I support Barack Obama: For the FIRST time in my 44 years of life I am inspired by and excited about a politician and desperately hope he wins!!! Truly for the first time in a long time since RFK, "a real person" with a heart and "real unified vision", is running. Obama is the answer!!! Was and still is my thought! a really inspiring speaker and human to save our country from the corrupt road it has been going down...! After the Kennedy's never has any candidate been so pleasant and awe inspiring to watch and listen to and read! Plus his wife Michelle is so brilliant as well a cross between Eleanor Roosevelt and Jackie Kennedy. I love how young he is that spells volumes of his brilliance & ability to get this far at such a young age and to see what change was so apparent he has a beautiful mind...My parents divorced at two as well so I relate to his experience plus having been brought up in mixed race family he naturally grew up in diversity integrated from birth! Obama is the personified American Symbol... For MANY elections & presidencies, men have seriously failed America, & one might wonder if a woman is the solution...sure! I have no doubt a woman could do it definately!!!! BUT I think not, not this time... we need the right man to FINALLY do it right with heart and conviction for the right reasons...Before this campaign I didn't think it was possible! But now I see that Barack Obama is that man!"

It just feels GOOD to know that you are REALLY the man for the job of governing our nation's broken promise to sacred oaths - 1) of the document of the Constitution of the United States; and, 2) our allegiance to what we know is our GOD-supportive of this nation through indifference and just preoccupation with trivial things! Thank you for giving us an opportunity to vote our conscience with confidence. AGAIN, February 5th in Illinois -- me and mine will VOTE OBAMA!!!!!!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    I had the pleasure of being one of those in the midst watching Barack Obama work during his run for the Congressional seat against Congressman Bobby Rush and Senator Donne E. Trotter in Illinois. How inspirational! He seems to me to be a long-awaited and very appropriate answer to a myriad of questions we have been asking for a long time as Americans. Starting with, "Will your agenda make the kinds of changes we need to grow as a people and country?" I believe Barack Obama's agenda works and that he will ultimately be the next President of the United States of America. It's only a matter of time...Godspeed Barack!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE MY VOTE!"
    His life experiences speak to the best of what it means to be an American in the 21st century. He has the best potential to create change by bringing people together across political, religious, and racial divides. He articulates solutions by appealing to our better instincts as a nation.
    It's time to rise to the challenge. Time to build on the ideas and the work of previous generations who led us through times of great need. Time to build on the spirit of so many who believed -- and those who continue to believe -- in a better day. It's not too late.
    "When we are born, we basically are helpless and at the mercy of our parents and surroundings. Depending on the love & care of our parents along with the kind of environment we live in, we grow up to be many different personalities with individual taste and needs.
    But, no matter how different we are, we always have to live together, together with our brothers and sisters, with our neighbours, with our community, with our environment and most important of all as a Nation.
    The forefather's of this great Nation worked harder than one can ever imagine to bring us all together so that we as future Americans live a safe & happy life looking after each others needs.
    From its birth till now, America as a Nation has emerged into a powerful force that the whole World looks up to. This journey from childhood into a mature Nation did have its ups and down, and as we look into the future today. together we must take this great Nation towards an era of understanding, cooperation and a common goal where none of us have to worry about the future of our children, as "America would take care".
    And, could there be a better person to make this dream of ours as well as our great forefathers come true ?
    Certainely not.
    Thank you Barack for being there."
