Based in Wallasey and a member of Wallasey Amateur Photographic Society since about 1994, I took up photography on New Year's Day 1990 when I went on a skiing holiday in Andorra. I didn't own a camera so I bought one there - a Color 2000 for about £16! I now own 2 Nikon film SLRS (although the F50 has recently passed away and the D65 is held together with sellotape!) On 19 February 2007 I bought a Nikon D80. I also own a Bronica which I rarely use.
My favourite type of photography is pop stars. Yes I've shot Elton John (who wouldn't if given the opportunity!!!), Status Quo, Genesis, Lisa Stansfield, Yazoo (called Yaz in the US), The Human League, Midge Ure, Go West, Blondie, Boy George, ABC, Errol Brown, Sam Brown, Lightning Seeds, Erasure, Black, and erm Atomic Kitten! (Well they there performing in our local park and I was the official photographer, so I had no choice!).
My ambition was to photograph Madonna, REM and U2. On Sunday 24 August 2008, I eventually fulfilled one of my ambitions and went to see REM at Lancashire County Cricket Ground, supported by The Guillemots and Editors. I was 10 rows from the front and I got an amazing view of the bands (and some OK photos). A night I'll REMember for a long time! See I do have good taste in music after all!
I finally met Andy Earle at Focus on Imaging in Birmingham in 2007 - One on the best album cover photographers in the world and a real inspiration (Pink Floyd, Madonna, Rolling Stones, Eurythmics...)
I also enjoy travel photography, landscapes, seascapes, portraits, night scenes and would like to become a lot more creative with my photography. I would love to shoot an album cover for a big British band - (Coldplay, Keane..) although an album cover for any band would be great.
There's nothing wrong with having ambitions and dreams!
I am male, single and happy!
