I started birdwatching 38 years ago, and have travelled throughout the UK and many parts of the World in search of them.Unfortunately the digital camera era dawned a little too late for me,I can only dream of the images I could have obtained if the DSLR was around from 1976-2003.
My images are not works of art, seeing the bird is the most important part of my hobby, the ability to photograph them is an added bonus. Most images are simply point and shoot whenever the opportunity occurs, often in bad light, against the Sun and with lots of branches and foliage in the way.
I prefer to be out birding rather than sitting at a PC,so messing about in Photoshop is not my scene. In Lightroom I adjust exposure, and crop, often quite heavily as birds rarely come close.
I do hope some improvement can be seen over the years. Starting with a Nikon Coolpix, failing miserably at digiscoping, and in 2006 a Canon 30D DSLR,going through to 40D then 50D and now EOS7D,with a 400mm Canon lens.
