I am primarily a writer and blogger rather than a Flickrista. My personal blog is called Via Negativa, and I have a photoblog as well.. I edit a literary blogzine, qarrtsiluni, and help manage a monthly blog carnival for tree lovers, Festival of the Trees.

I started blogging in December of 2003, but didn't begin snapping pictures until late February of 2005, when one of my readers mailed me an old, 1-megapixel camera for my birthday. I got the camera I use now (a Finepix S5200) for Christmas, 2005. I remain a point-and-shoot photographer with a primary interest in illustrating my online writing. For a while, I stored photos at Image Shack or Photobucket, and made the switch to Flickr mainly because I was already using the site to share private photos with friends and family.

On September 3, 2006, I graduated from 28k/sec dial-up to a high-speed connection. Photos uploaded before that date tend to be smaller in size. In late 2006, I began uploading full-size versions of some photos and letting Flickr resize them rather than doing the resizing myself, having made the difficult decision to sacrifice ease of viewing by people with dial-up connections in favor of greater sharpness of image.

I wish I could be more active on Flickr, submitting stuff to photo pools and such, but I already spend way too much time online.
