I find it hard to limit myself to one genre, so this pool is a bit of a mishmash of black and white, colour, portraits, abstracts, silly random snapshots, "art", and whatever else struck my fancy when I saw it and happened to have the camera handy. I usually try to be as neutral as possible when taking and editing my shots, preferring to let each image emerge organically according to whatever logic or process works best. Analyzing my own style any more than that is sort of like trying to focus on the end of my nose - it just makes me dizzy and gets me nowhere.

I have 0 formal education in photography or any techniques, so I'm just making it all up as I go along - therefore, any critiques you may have are absolutely welcome! But please understand I have no idea who you are or what sort of credentials you may hold and I do have some sense of what I like, so critiques will be taken with a grain of salt. That said, by all means FIRE AWAY!

As far as process goes, obviously I need work on the fundamentals, but that's less important to me than just getting out there and learning on the fly. I just try to remind myself of three things every time I take the camera out of the case:
1 - Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.
Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900)
2 - No matter how advanced your camera you still need to be responsible for getting it to the right place at the right time and pointing it in the right direction to get the photo you want.
Ken Rockwell, Your Camera Does Not Matter, 2005
3 - The camera doesn't make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE.
Ernst Haas, Comment in workshop, 1985
