Perhaps my career as a meteorologist would never have happened if I had never looked up at the sky as a kid. Every summer afternoon I waited eagerly for the brief relief brought about with the predictable thunderstorm. I was rarely disappointed.

About clouds, are that they are never the same moment to moment. Their movement, shape, and color provide endless hours of fascination and beauty. When sped up through time lapse, they become all the more mesmerizing. Watching and waiting for the unexpected results in only about 10 percent of any my images ever used. I look for unusual events which provide lots of drama. Still, when all is said and done, there is something about looking at clouds that calms the mind. - Enjoy

Head in the clouds? Yes, that would be Jan, but most positively. The amazing images of the changing weather depicted in the sky of Wyoming taken by Jan are captivating. The images transform my 17" laptop screen into a jumbotron. I am in awe of the color and beauty of the photos and videos. Viewing his photostream offers the viewer a deeper appreciation of our grand planet and a better understanding of our weather. The images, for me, remind me to pause for a time and look up at the sky. Look up and see what beauty nature offers and the importance of being good stewards of our planet to preserve these images for the next generation.
