I picked up a Panasonic TZ4 in 2007 to chronicle landscape work in the yard and shortly thereafter started stuffing it in my pocket when going walkabout. Nice little camera but I soon found myself wanting more and moved up to the Panasonic FZ35 superzoom. Love this camera and am actually starting to learn to use it effectively. No current interest in going DSLR.


I started birdwatching in 1991, which eventually led to butterflies and has recently spiraled into insects, reptiles, mammals, plants and pretty much anything else that gets in front of my camera and binoculars – except people and things manmade. Identifying and learning about what I am photographing has become a big deal, made difficult by a total lack of science classes in school.
