About the Artist


Deborah Lovelace Richardson received a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland in 1976. Her recent work has focused on plein air painting at the National Battlefield Parks of Monocacy, Antietam and Gettysburg.


Deborah and her work were recently featured in the Maryland Public Television special “Historic Barns of Maryland”.


“Painting outdoors can be a challenge with the changing weather and light, but I enjoy the communion with nature. Capturing the natural elements of the landscape at a particular time of day is what I really love.”


Deborah is a member of the Frederick County Art Association, the Frederick Plein Air Artists and a life member of the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center. She exhibits in galleries and arts and crafts shows in the Mid-Atlantic region. Deborah’s work can also be viewed at her studio by appointment. Her husband, artist Harry L. Richardson, is well known for

his beautiful watercolors of the Frederick and Chesapeake Bay area.
