I've been taking pictures for about 14 years now. I started on a military deployment to Europe in 2004 with a gigantic point and shoot Canon Powershot A70. When I returned from that deployment in 2005, I got a Sony Cybershot DSC-F828. I had a lot of adventures with that camera and got some shots that inspired me to keep going. I took the Cybershot with me on my next deployment to Kuwait/Afghanistan in 2008 and when I got home I traded up for a Nikon D300. I didn't do a lot with this camera until I moved to the Washington, DC area in June 2010. This is where my interest in/passion for photography really took off.

Since moving to DC, I have concentrated mainly on the stereotypically DC shots...the memorials, the museums, and the Capitol. I have focused pretty heavily on HDR photography, particularly with Photomatix, since discovering the technique in the Fall of 2010. I have more recently began to branch out to other types of photography; protests, celebrities, stars, and some others.

I am on Flickr because it inspires me to continue with my photography. It is great having a community to share my pictures with and, being a science geek at heart, it was great to have metrics to see how my pictures were being received by others (other than family and friends who, of course, like everything I show them). I share my photos in groups and am always excited when they make it on to DC blogs. I've recently begun trying to build a presence on Twitter and Google+ to expand the range of people who see my pictures.

I've also set up a site for print sales on Smugmug. I haven't done much to develop that site, but it's a good feeling when someone enjoys my work enough to pay money for it. I'm still open to allowing people to use my work with attribution. Contact me using Flickr Mail, on any of the social media sites above, or using my contact form.
