I started in photography many years ago and had my own black-and-white darkroom. I don't envy that situation at all now, but still see the influence of it in some of my photography. I became interested in nature--especially birds, wildflowers and intertidal life--and found that with a camera was a great way to explore and learn, primarily with macro or telephoto lens. To this day I am still enamored with the details, intricacies and interactions of nature. And thanks to a few friends who have been very good influences over the years, both in terms of opening new doors to different aspects of nature and also in photographic techniques.
