Having been a keen observer of bird-life in Australia for around 40 years, I decided in 2014 to purchase a camera with a zoom lens, a Canon SX50. That same day I took a photo of a dragonfly, the identity of which I did not know. Subsequent research led to a keen interest into the world of Odonata, and a gradual upgrading of camera equipment. The dragonfly was a Tramea loewii and the photo was selected by staff at "Wildlife Australia" for the front cover of their magazine in 2015. I now use a Canon EOS 7D MkII with either a 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 zoom lens or a 100mm f2.8 macro. I mostly like to photograph birds and dragonflies, but anything in the natural world gets my attention, including a recent interest in spiders.
