Very slow Flickr!

ChemiQ81 says:

Flickr has been running very slowly for a couple of weeks. Pages and photos are very difficult to load, sending my own photos is a nightmare, it takes a very long time and often ends with "go back and fix errors" message. Now I can't even rename my photos...

Is this related to the announced deletion of photos of free users? It's not a problem with my browser (Firefox), OS (Windows 8.1) or network, because other websites are loading quickly.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
