I doubt that it is browser/OS-related problem at all.

It goes away if you limit your recent activity to the last 7 days. Just sad to have to do that when Flickr would allow you to customize "since the beginning" in the past.

Maybe if they can't support "since the beginning" any more they should just remove that as an option. Recent activity is one of the most important, popular and highly used pages on flickr. Having it fail to load repeatedly will just drive users away.

Yes. Most likely.

I think the recent activity page is probably the most important page on flickr that people use the most. I do hope they fix this as it has the potential of driving users away which will hurt the site longer term. When Instagram never fails to load but Flickr does people will increasingly get frustrated and choose to spend time on other sites. I don't know the technical solution to this issue (if there is one), but I hope it gets resolved.

Engineers are working to 'slowly' to resolve the issue!!!!!!! Although to be fair they are probably working hard on the next unwanted change!!!!!!!

I think it is getting on for a week now since 'recent activity' had any semblance of working. The is currently about a one-in-a-million chase of loading a recent activity page, with a custom view and last 7 days set.

I bet 500px and Instagram are looking on with anticipation of more defectors.

It's important to also hear from members who are NOT having the same issue others are, to help determine if it's a site-wide problem. Like Colette, I am also not having any issues with RA at the moment.

The issue seems to be that Flickr can't support "since the beginning" when it comes to recent activity for those with long, active streams. Perhaps extending the time before that page times out might help? Maybe it just needs more time to process the request?

Mine's set for the last day only and always has been. So it can't be just for when someone's set theirs to see from the beginning.

As it's now the weekend, we'll have to wait until Monday, before anyone gets back to 'hopefully' solving the problem.

Thomas Hawk says:

Recent Activity

Bammm! Still, soooooooo broken. I think Flickr just needs to adjust the timeout so that it does not timeout after 10 or 15 or 63 or 84 seconds or whatever. Just let it run a little longer and it will probably go through. The recent activity page is the most important page on Flickr. Casual users or users who don't get a lot of activity on their photos over a long period of time probably are not seeing this problem, but active long-term users are seeing it and these are some of Flickr's most valuable users because they spend hours on the site a day. I'd recommend just tweaking the time out so that it doesn't time out so quickly and send the user to the dreaded Yahoo can't load page.

Leticia Roncero:

which is only affecting a few of you.
the users it is affecting are flickr's longest-term, most active users. These are the users you don't want to alienate.

This is the most important page on Flickr for social interaction.

Fact: I have tried different browers to solve the RA problem. Safari, Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer and FireFox. All the same result.
RA page is not loading or 'our engineers....'. And yes , I have used the latest browser versions.
In my Android app , the same problem. I use the newest version, Oreo and have a fast connection!

Fact: I have changed my RA page with loading from the beginning to the last 7 days. Still the same problems with no response or 'our engineers...'!
For me it is the most important page on Flickr!

Fact: I now have these problems for 2 weeks, have to refresh the page 5-10 times before there is any result!
I have a fast Internet connection.
In 500px the pages are loading fast and no problems. In Flickr I get bad gateway problems, problems to fave pictures, problems to comment photos, problems upload new pictures, Panda's, 404 this is not the page you're looking for,
etc, etc. Other sites give no problem at all!

I have this problems for the last 2 weeks. All my friends in The Netherlands have the same problems (but do not complain).
My contacts in Belgium, Germany, France and Italy have the same problem! So it is not affecting a few of us! Not all users know the way to the forum.

2 questions:

- Why are the engineers not honest en tell us what the problem is (in Europe?).
They never have the same problem or it is a minor problem. After 2 weeks work from our engineers it should be working again!
I don't think they take our problems seriously. Why don't you tell us what's the matter and the status of the problem.

- When is the RA problem fixed?
Everyone in my environment is complaining.
Is it a problem in Flickr? Is it a problem in Yahoo?
I know Flickr is sold. Is there a problem? No more money for maintenance? No more money to upgrade and tune your old servers?

I am a pro User, so I pay for this service. Why don't you help us?

Thank you. a disappointed user.
